Support Children & Families
We work to improve policies and systems that enable Frederick County children and families to reach their full potential. Our focus areas include: Early Childhood Education and Care; Foster Care, Kinship Care, and Adoption; and, Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment.
Heal Trauma & Addiction
Trauma can significantly impact an individual’s life, influencing their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. It is increasingly recognized that trauma plays a substantial role in the development of addiction. People who experience trauma often turn to substances or addictive behaviors as a means of coping.
Uplifting Families appreciates the growing awareness of the impact and consequences of traumatic experiences upon community members, and advocates for more resources dedicated to trauma-informed treatment planning strategies.
Provide Respite Care for Seniors and the Disabled
Respite care is a short-term care service that provides temporary relief for primary caregivers of children or adults with disabilities or cognitive loss. It can be arranged for a few hours or several weeks at a time, and can take place at home, in a healthcare facility, or at an adult day care center.
In Frederick County, with the need for respite care continuing to increase with the aging population, additional resources and funding are needed. Uplifting Families advocates for those additional resources needed that will go to enable increased care and support.
Welcome New Neighbors
Many public and private service providers in Maryland provide a variety of support services to eligible refugees and asylees, including employment services, transitional financial assistance, health assistance, medical screenings, English language and vocational training, case management, youth programming, and more. Such programs and services promote early economic self-sufficiency for eligible refugee populations, and provide vital support to local stakeholders and service providers to create an inclusive and welcoming resettlement environment in which refugee populations thrive by achieving economic and social well-being and advancing integration efforts.

Achieve Independence
Uplifting Families supports social service programs that enables Frederick County residents over time to become increase their earnings and savings, thereby becoming self-sufficient and not reliant upon government or outside assistance.
Empower Careers
In order to achieve self-sufficiency, Frederick County residents must have access to employment that lifts family incomes, their standard of living, and ultimately, their ability to thrive. Uplifting Families supports and promotes the numerous resources in Frederick County that help to achieve independence.

Uplifting Families advocates for the work of the Frederick County Department of Social Services by providing support to improve the safety and well-being of senior citizens in need.
